Hello all. I'll be upfront: I'm not a Discovery owner. I'm an engineer in Turkey and I'm building a two-stage diesel setup around the BMW B57 turbo, which turns out to be the direct sibling of the one on your AJ20-D6 — same Garrett family, same frame, different actuator.

I've spent a few weeks trying to find out what's actually inside this turbo and come up completely empty. Garrett don't publish it, the trade databases stop short of it, and because JLR supply it only as a...

view forum post
Hi Thanks for the replies.
I did try to do a search on past posts, but obviously didn't try hard enough!
Looking forward to fitting a set with 275/55R20 BFGoodrich ATs.

view forum post
Subject: Screen Protector for PiviPro
Posted: 4th Aug 2026 9:37 pm (GMT 1.00)

Following up on this thread, has anyone found a useful Screen Protector for the infotainment? Previous car had unremovable fingerprints on the screen so I was tying to get a 'phone type' screen protector to put on the new one. I did get one from amazon but it was glass and wouldn't stick to the curved screen. Too rigid.

Looking for a flexible alternative. Anyone use one or have recommendations?

thanks
Secure tracker was always...at least until now...a separate subscription to the Remote Pro services.

Seems like they're trying to force both subscriptions together as one package if the £260 renewal is now a thing. I'll have to wait until next August to find out as that's when my current Remote Pro sub expires. Strangely enough, the Secure tracker pro subscription wasn't available (for the Bling Barge anyway) when I started off my Remote services sub last year...I did ask...

view forum post
Yes, defender wheels fit fine. If you do a search there are a few threads with photo's of Discovery's wearing 20" Defender wheels. I have them fitted with the Discovery tyre size, Duratrac 255/55R20, although people also run the slightly larger Defender size tyres successfully.

When I log on to Incontrol, remote and secure tracker pro are listed as two separate services, with secure tracker pro expiring at the three year mark, and remote expiring at five years.
So looks like they are definitely two separate items on my MY.
if my remote start heating were to cost me £260 to renew i would not be happy, but looks like I have three more years before I need to worry about it.

view forum post
_________________
2024 Discovery Metropolitan D300 - Offroad & Towing Packs - Varesine Blue

Maybe it is MY related?

If my car’s renewal next year is £260, then I would not renew. Its limited use is not worth it.

I find syncing destinations from the house very flaky …maybe my wifi isn’t not strong enough in the garage?
I frequently have to go to the car and input journeys there, to save the comms hassle.

Same with remote door locking….very hit & miss. If the car’s been asleep for too long, I have to use the...

view forum post
Mine runs out next year...won't be renewing at that price either. It may be worth £40 per year or £60 for 2... certainly not worth anywhere near £260. It's a limited use phone app fer goodness sake. JLR marketing must have been smoking some weird plants when they came up with that one

view forum post
My subscription ran out, I did find it useful, however, the price quote has gone up from £60 per year to £260 per year.
At that price it's not worth it for the odd time I use it.

view forum post
The older TD6 and SDV6's use C1 5W 30 or STJLR.03.5005 rated oil. If I can't get hold of Castrol Edge C1 (expensive and hard to source), I usually go for 6L of this from Opie oils. It's a tad dearer overall unless you buy 2x5L for just over £100 to get the free shipping... but it's very good quality oil.

It only does the email-code thing to me if I log in on the InControl website from my PC...the phone app works fine with biometrics using my fingerprint. I've only ever had to set that up once when I first downloaded it from the app store. The remote start is a bit hit and miss sometimes...and slow.

I only use the website to clear old logged journeys if I forget to delete them on the phone for a few months...can't mass delete the journey logs on the phone app...or rather, I...

view forum post
If anyone is looking for a quality STJLR.03.5007 oil for the D300/D350 (I think the older V6s also use the same but haven't checked), Opie Oils have a deal on PETRONAS Syntium 7000 FJ 0W-30 at the moment.
You can get 2x5L delivered for under £75.

I’ve decided this remote app is just a con. Is it just me?
Why does it constantly keep asking me for my password every time I want to use it, then it’s painfully slow at doing anything before eventually failing and sending me an email with a code number to input before faulting again and 10 minutes later, going thru the whole same process yet again.🙄
I’m fed up with inputting the same info every damn time.😳

It’s due for renewal in August but...

view forum post
I am quite happy with mine - it has been, bar none, the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned, and it's my first Land Rover. Its even the first model year of the D5. I didn't spend a penny of the extended warranty I bought expecting trouble. Mine was made in Solihull before they moved production to Slovakia.

I've driven GM, Audi (also quite reliable - B5 generation), Subaru, Volvo (multiple), Hyundai, Volkswagen,(Touareg T2 3.0 TDI, also quite reliable until the government...

view forum post
Thanks for the heads up. Checked mine, the clearcoat has rubbed off but it’s not quite through the paint yet. Now I’m wondering whether I should spray a new bit of clearcoat on or apply some xpel ppf (Tesla is in for full cover at the moment, sure I can get some offcuts for nothing). My only concern with a strip of ppf is whether it would make the seal leak on the transition from ppf to no ppf.
