In case anyone else wants to try this…. I bought aftermarket rails from LRparts.net. Seem to be good quality. They come with a sticker template pack to put on the car trims to mark the cut outs. I didn’t remove the trims from the car and cut them in-situ. I used a dremel and just squared the ends of the cut out rather than curving them as per template and it worked fine. Just note - the front trim is aluminium I think and it took about 6 cutting wheels per side. I made my cut outs a bit...

It would be highly unlikely. You'd have to request that they replace them before booking the car in. Same goes for the water pump unless they discover the bearing is noisy or the pulley has excessive play...which means additional waiting for parts, etc, etc.

Replacement cam pulleys are roughly £120 a pair. A trusted quality, branded (Graf, Ridex, Pierburg) after market water pump can range from around £70 upwards ...but as to what a dealership will charge you for their...

Similar, mine will have it next month - £1700. Local indy was quoting £1500 and they don't use genuine oil, filters etc - so once I supplied that stuff it's really no cheaper. So made sense to just take it to the dealers and maintain the full service history. It's a job I could manage myself but I don't have the time.

Something I didn't check and will need to is whether the dealers change the camshaft pulleys as part of the standard service.

Been on D3 in the past but not been active so much in the last decade due to a Shogun doing the work. Had an RRS but it was not a good car todoing 'stuff'.

Had to replace last year and having looked around the D5 seems the best fit so took the plunge and got one last summer. It had a sad demise in September just as LR shut down and it has taken until now to get a replacement with a low range box. So now a D5 owner and have to learn what all the buttons/menus do now. ...

Does any one else find pivi pro postcodes a couple of miles out. Had to resort to my phone a couple of times now, Why would this be, does it only search to the first 6 digits or something, although it does give an exact point on the map only a couple of miles from where that postcode area actually is.

Android Auto or Apple CarPlay is the way to go for music in the car...if you can think of any song or album ever made or want to make a playlist of your favourite stuff, just press the big talk button on your steering wheel, speak the words, turn up the volume and sing along at the top of your lungs. It's like having your own voice controlled jukebox in the car.

You can use Apple CarPlay to access your entire iTunes library direct or...

Update, probably easy for you all but for an old pipe fitter i feel like an IT specialist. I have now got a USB converter, i dragged and dropped a load of tunes from i tunes, i couldn't take an album so made a folder, called it the album name and dropped them in, it seems to work fine.
still prefer my Ipod Classic but will get used to it

To be honest, the colour of the rails is irrelevant, if you fit after market rails, you’ll still need this How To to ensure you can fit them without splashing out a small fortune on replacement parts and trims.

Follow the guide, take your time, you’ll get the job done.

Mine got scratched from going through too many bushes. I eventually got fed up of trying to polish the scratches out so bought cheap (£20ish) off eBay. They needed a bit of persuading to clip on but worked perfectly.

My stance was it had been pre diagnosed and they shouldn’t charge for what was in essence a “second opinion”. I didn’t object to paying for fixing it ….because it was, to some extent, at that time still conjecture that their software update caused it. But the evidence continues to support that view.

I paid half the diagnostic price in the end. Good luck.
