  I followed the wiring from the light socket and one cable does go to the one of the 3 earth ...

• Just checked my very early D5…. Rear fogs work perfectly in my 3.5 tonne horse trailer. Rear fogs in the car stay off!!
  
  Tried then turning front fogs on… they work independently of rears.

• Rear fogs should work without the front fogs on even with a caravan or trailer connected.
  
  Does your caravan have the 7 or 13 pin plug?
