    Finally driven one

I have been lurking here for a good while now but only got to drive one for the first time this week. Loved it!

I actually went to test the new jag iPace but didn’t like it and asked to try a D5 while I was there. All I can say is - very nice indeed. Not totally certain I will get one but it is the one car that ticks all the boxes (except for the electric one) - liked how it is a bit lighter feeling than the D4 - the car that can do eveything - limo/off road/7 seater - we’ll you all know that. Currently looking like we will see how it goes in December once my electric bmw goes back - I will then see what prices are like and decide what to do

Not trying to hurt anyone's profits here, but the best prices I saw on things provided you might want to buy something off the lot and could accept a previous years model were around Jan-Feb or a little later when the dealers are trying to clear out what ever inventory they have left over to make room for the new years models.

Not that I claim to know how this works for sure, but at least for the local dealer I have I went in around Nov of last year and was just tire kicking to see how eager they might be to deal and though that might be a good time for just the reasons above, and when I mentioned it might possible due to the time the sales person kinda dug in and said no way as that kind of thing doesn't matter...kinda almost like because its the brand that kind of thing does not apply.

Then when I mentioned to him that I had been monitoring their stock online and noticed that they had the same 12 some odd discos in stock for 2-3 months and had not sold one and said, if that were the case how was that going to change in the next month or two....and he then replied again that didn't matter as they would sell and if they had that many by Jan (and in referring to they would sell with no deal making) he would be completely shocked.

So I basically said, well OK and thanked him for his time and went on my way.

So I continued to monitor things online and by Jan of 2018 they had sold one or two, but still pretty much had all the ones I had seen for all that time, but then for the month of Feb to March suddenly they were all gone.

So again, I really don't know how this all works for sure at all, but I get the feeling that at least for some dealers if for what ever reason they are not ones that want to, or can keep a lot of old stock around, they either will deal hard at just the right time to clear them out, or perhaps even sell in bulk to someone at probably the least profit they would like but yet at least gets them off the lot so they can have enough room for the new years models.

I have been keeping an eye on D5 prices for months and months already! I have observed that there are some cars that have been in stock for months with the prices falling steadily. I won’t be in a rush to take the plunge (all depends how business is going too) and I am undecided how much to spend - whether to get an S (would need to check the non-xenon/led light are ok) or stretch to an hse (our D4 and fl2 are both hse)

If the non xenon/LED lights are anything like I had in my D4 they are abysmal.

Agree, I don't miss the xenons I had on the D4 at all.
