Tempted
After having a D2 then a D3 and being a disco3.co.uk forum member for some years I decided to see about upgrading my 2006 D3, a suitable 2016 D4 graphite was located and we went for a look today, whilst there we decided to also look at the D5’s available just to see what the extra money would get.
To cut a long story short I got in the D4 and felt exactly the same as in my D3 no doubt it’s better under the skin but it felt the same.
Into the D5 a 2017 TD6 HSE in kiakora stone metallic with edony leather and panoramic roof. Wow, it really felt different to sit in, actually felt like a new car. As I know nothing about the D5’s I thought it sensible to join the forum and ask for any buying advice or tips on what to look for from People that have already made the change.
Sensibly I guess the D4 would be a good choice it’s 18 months old approved used with 2 years warranty and has only done 13,000. But as I said it feels the same as my D3, no wow factor. The D5 has done 8k is 12 months old again 2 years warranty, but it’s 10K more expensive, however it did have the wow factor, but in the real world is it worth it ?

I agree with Russell, if you take one for a test drive you will not look back.
Especially at the bum!!

I also agree with Russell.
I went to look at a D5 in the showroom before you could drive them, didn't like the looks and walked away. Then received a voucher for a half-day session at LRE - what an amazing vehicle. Same engine as my 2012 D4 and sitting in the driving seat felt I was still in my car, the difference was only noticed once driving on and off road.
Now waiting for the SVX to be released before placing an order!!

The D4 may also depreciate like a lead balloon compared too the D5, so the 10k difference/offset may balance things out, if you know what I mean.
I agree, the D5 is head and shoulders above the D4 in all aspects especially comfort and driving.

No contest, D5 all the way. I had a D4 Landmark which was excellent for 16 months, but just wanted the better tech, better comfort, slightly better economy and it gives me a big grin every time I get in it. I too have a Kaikorua Stone, doesn't show the dirt at all and not many around in this colour, but it has been discontinued for the D5 for now, think it is one of the best colours for he D5 as it hides the bulk down the flanks. Good luck with whatever you choose, but I'd strongly recommend the D5.
Attached a photo of mine in Kaikorua Stone for you

I'm the same as the others it's a brillent car. Very time I drive it I get the wow factor, buy the D5 you won't be disappointed. And with it being a new model it will be right for 6 to 7 years before they change it, I have the 2lt which I'm extremely pleased with the performance. But the 3lt is effortless and silky smooth what a car, it you but one put some photos on the forum.

To bring this to a conclusion we have decided on the D4 graphite edition it’s got 13k on the clock and is landrover approved used, just couldn’t justify the extra money for a D5, I’m sure there a brilliant car but for what we needed just possibly a bit over the top both financially and spec wise.
Thanks for all you comments though.
