On the back of a discussion elsewhere in the group I'd thought I would create a poll around fitting of a fat or thin rear number plate. As I posted elsewhere this (fat plate fitting) is something JLR are not happy with!
Private number going on Sept 1st so will put up photos, when done. Personal plates are shallow and small, so no doubt some will like it and some won't.
I picked up my new D5 just over a week ago and hadn't noticed any difference between fat or thin but what I did notice was that the plate fitted did not have enough room on the left of the plate for a GB sticker.
Where is the best place to stick one rather than get a new plate made ?
There's no room on the side of my plates for the top one and to stick the bottom one on would look right out of place.
My best bet will be to get some new plates with the letters and numbers over a bit to allow room for the top ones already on the plate like my old ones.

I’ve got a private plate to go on mine, it will be the thinner plate and also much shorter than the original size.
I don’t really pay much attention to the back end to be honest, I tried using it as an excuse to not buy one last year when they first came out but after sitting in one without even driving it I had to have one.
For some strange reason there seems to be more and more D3 /D4’s about with standard plates on ? What’s that all about ?
2017 MY D5 HSE 3.0 Td6 Corris Grey, Side steps, roof rails,
I think this has been mentioned in another thread on this but in North America we have no choice all plates are about the same size

Where I am we do not need a front plate so swings and roundabouts

I guess we are lucky here to have lots of options, Australian standard yellow and premium white have different sizes, there is a Euro size option as well as a US size option. And any colour you like, spoilt for choice.
I've finally settled for a replacement plate 6" x 21" with the GB and union flag on.
Now to get the 'old' one off, well not very old, only just over a week
Mine just pulled off with some force and then the sticky foam just rubbed off with my thumb. I was surprised to see that there's a hole in the boot lid skin that was covered with a black sticky circle. I imagine this is for another world market where the plates use the hole to fix. I recovered the hole in case of water getting past the plate. I was also surprised to find mounting screw holes so i wondered why my UK plate had been stuck rather than screwed. My Cypriot plates are the stamped tin types so are screwed to the boot now.
