Anyway fwiw, When I fitted my frontrunner rack I had to remove the caps on the rails to access true mounting bolts, did not see any wiring loom. but I wasn’t looking for one .
Not sure if this helps
F50, Fourtack, LR3 and now..............D5 HSE TDV6
See, this is what I'm talking about - it tells you absolutely nothing about what it is. I thought it was the low-profile LED light bar. The picture of the top of the vehicle from above shows absolutely nothing in the LR catalog. The big picture at the top of the page is the same picture for all "towing and carrying" accessories, and is of the luggage rack.
The price seems...um, light...for a light bar - most aftermarket 20" Cree LED light bars are double the price. and ten times the ugly.
Seems to me at least by the link provided that while this is called a Alpine Light Kit, it has nothing to do with something that projects any lighting but is more like a Ext or relocation kit for the Nav systems antennae?
Here is the description:
"The alpine light kit is required for fitment with roof rails. Objects placed above the roof mounted satellite antenna may reduce the quality of the signal received by the vehicle and could have a detrimental effect on the navigation and satellite radio systems, if fitted."
Yes - two pieces of black Perspex that fit under the roof rails.
My car came without roof rails - the original fit parts are non drilled.
These come with the correctly located holes to allow the roof rails to bolt to the car roof.
Could drill the originals yourself -measuring might be an issue, also the Perspex might shatter or splinter.
Not too sure of the description - 'Alpine Lights'
Guessing this is trying to hark back to the old series/defender 'alpine lights' - which actually let in light !!!
Yeah, and I've now seen some pictures of the SVX Disco annotated with "roof lighting kit not available for sale in the USA" or words to that effect. Roof-mounted LED light kits aren't road legal - but we're all big boys and girls, we can decide when it's appropriate to turn on our lights, and pay the consequences if we use them illegally or inappropriately.
Guess I'll be looking for someone to re-sell a set at some point and pay shipping for it....
