    Data Card for Nav etc

    Hi all

Not sure if anyone can help here. I bought a pre paid sim for the car and installed it after asking the phone shop guy which sim i needed for a car. Didn't work. Caled o2 and they said you have the wrong one (iPad data card) what you need is a mobile broadband sim. OK.

So installed one of those now (looks the same). Still nothing. A 3G sign shows up, but when I try to access anything it says not connected to the internet.
It's a pre paid, pre loaded 12gb sim.

Question, which flipping card is the right one to use and should it connect automatically to the internet of things..?
Never had this trouble with any other car - never even had to buy or even know the existence of a sim.
    This is madness.

    Thanks for your help

I can't help with the UK provider SIMs but I just put a mobile phone pre-paid SIM (Optus) in mine and it works fine.

Thanks for that. I'll maybe just pair it with the phone and be done with this nonsense sim.

With both sims i have used across last 12 months, they had to be registered before use. Although the 3G or 4G symbol appears, nothing works until you register on sim suppliers site.

    Thank you.

We're your cards pre loaded data cards, or pay as you go/monthly contract please?

    Thanks

First was a 12 month pre paid 12 month o2 sim. Most recent was the dealer supplied 3 year 500MB / month sim.

Thanks. I've got an O2 pre paid too, so will look online to see if it needs registering. Though the O2 lady did say not....supposedly.

That'll be why hopefully. Will try and find the card, hoping the cleaners haven't thrown it away and register it. Then finally I can access the features I don't even need.....

On the other hand, just bought a Beer Sub and that works perfectly......

2018 Discovery Si4 HSE Fuji White

I bought a Three Mobile Pay As You Go Mobile Broadband 24GB Data SIM [via Amazon]
Data lasts up to 24 months

It definitely needed to be activated - had to stick it in a phone to do it but since then it's been fine
