Disks & Pads
Hi all,
My 2017 SD4 is now advising me that the brake pads are getting low, it has a smidge under 40,000 on the clock. On the basis that I'm probably going to keep the vehicle for another 12-24 months I'm assuming it would be a good idea for me to bite the bullet and just get all four sets of pads and disks done? I'd go to an independent rather than a dealer for this.
Cheers

Independent...certainly. All 4? Well, its worth having a look as I suspect the rears will have more life left than the front pads...weight transfer when braking etc..So you may only need to replace the forward set

my Td6 was the opposite, rears more worn than front. Quite normal these days, my XC60 before used to go through rears every 35k and front every 70k (I had it 103k)
As it turned out I had all 4 sets of pads replaced on the D5 as 35k, rears were worn to almost nothing with no warning, since turned out all 4 pads had the warning sensors disconnected and neatly tied in cable ties....

Were your disks all fine at that mileage?

I am sure main dealer would have changed them, they seem to suggest have to change discs with pads, indi said the discs were fine and to just change pads....
Car did a significant amount of offroad up to 7000 miles and has towed 1800kg caravan numerous times since, including a trip to Italy in 2019.

DieselRanger.. Not available and unfortunately were available in USofA, so shipping would make them expensive.
