    Spare wheel winch

    Is there an easier way to wind the spare wheel winch down/up?

    Picked up a new D5 today and changed the spare wheel protector plate to something more robust. But to wind the winch down (from inside the boot) there was no obvious tool to use so had to manufacture something together involving a heavy duty allen key and vice grips.

    Job completed in the end but is there something I'm missing? Something easier to use when on a dark rainy night on the hard shoulder!

    Searched the forum and various websites but I'm still baffled Confused

    Its been a while since I changed a tire on my Disco so I could be getting it confused with another car but from memory I think I just used hook that you use on the eyelet of the Jack. (I think)

    Yep, this attached to the wheel nut wrench. It’s in the handbook or whatever online.

    Is the car supposed to have a jack and associated tools then? Just want to make sure mine aren't missing.

    Sorry for all the questions but waiting to hear back from my dealer on where the handbook is.

    Yes, the jack and the tools are located in the right hand locker in the boot (behind the panel that opens up).
