Just bought D5, new to forum - Tow bar Q ?
Morning all, so I have a D5 incoming next weekend. After considering a new order and then a showroom model, which the dealer couldn't give me a date at which it would be released, I've picked up a lovely 1 owner, 27k mile 2019 Anniversary edition. Can't wait to pick it up now !
I need to get a tow bar fitted and I want a detachable. Does anyone have recommendations for the type and who to get to fit it, plus how much I should be paying ?
All info appreciated, this look a great forum, so I'm sure I'll be back with many Q's !

A genuine LR one.
Ask the dealer.

Welcome to the forum, whatever route you go down, make sure you get the dedicated LR electrics and get the car coded so that it knows tow bar is fitted. These cars are a minefield for electrical issues so please don't be tempted to save a few pence on cheap electrics as it will likely come back to bite you.

Yes, I had seen a few companies that say they only fit with the dedicated LR loom and then code....basically saying to avoid any universal types. Thanks for the advice. I would love to have got a car with it already fitted, but I went for the best car I could find at a decent (in today's market !) price and thought I'd then get one....

The LR detachable is actually a Witter branded bar, however, in detail it appears to be a mixture of Witter and Westfalia parts, both companies come under the same owner. Not sure if you buy a Witter from them if it's actually the same design as the LR bar ie the attachment method of the detachable part. Fitting instructions for the LR bar used to be available through Topix which will show you how it works.

Must say I'm a big fan of the electrically deployable, but retrofitting it is prohibitively expensive

There are reasonably priced deployable towbars on fleabay and if you can find an indy to programme it ,should be a good option.
