    Battery Charging

My 2020 Landmark is displaying the message "Low Battery - Please Start Engine" as soon as I get into the car. I suspect this is due to lack of use during the pandemic. I have looked at the LR Manual and it says that the battery has to be removed from the vehicle to charge it and this should only be done by and authorised repairer!

I was hoping that there would be a simple way of trickle charging the battery whilst it is in situ. Or have I got to risk taking the car out for a good run and go against the lockdown restrictions?!

    Any advice greatly received.

yes, you can trickle charge it by connecting either to the jump start terminals under the bonnet or I use the tow electrics socket with a CTEK MSX 10 (don't exceed 10A on the tow socket otherwise you'll blow the fuse).

I would imagine this is because there is not a lot of airflow around the battery in a way that there would be if the battery was under the bonnet and they are concerned about build up of gases. Or it maybe that you'd have to leave the boot open to charge it (for the cable)... in which case maybe there's enough air moving around.

More likely it's because they want to sell you the optional charging kit.

Thanks for that..... I will give it a try when the snow is gone and we have a dry day (car outside on drive).
