Where can I go to gently off road?
Totally new to this 4wd ownership, but would love to try the Disco off road. But not proper hardcore off roading as I haven’t got a clue and don’t want to end up stuck or with bashed up bodywork
Driving around some fields would do me.
How do you go about finding whereabouts it’s possible to drive off her majesty’s highways?
Ps. For after lockdown of course!

Did you get a free LR Experience credit or voucher when you purchased the car? They will give you a flavour of off roading and if the car gets bashed, it’s not yours.
I did a weeks course in a Defender and then a LR Experience half day. It was okay, but pretty tame compared to the week. I wouldn’t go on another despite having half a dozen half days registered in my name. They told me I could combine them and have a full days, but I couldn’t think of anything more boring that plodding around a wood and fields. Each to their own that said.

Yes, I should have said - I have two half days banked and intend booking that sometime. This was more, can i go off and drive somewhere just for half an hour's fun - with the kids on board etc. Nothing too testing, but not tarmac.

Sorry, I don’t know your area, but generally everyone is calming up on allowing off-roading on their land or some of the more extreme environmentalists are throwing their toys out of the pram just as the mere mention of a Land Rover.

Green Laning would be an option. This is actually "on-roading" as green lanes are legal highways and byways and part of the road network, the only difference is that they have escaped tarmacing and are little used.
They vary enormously in condition from impassable through passable if you don't mind trees ripping paint off to easy and non-scratchy.
Up here in North Yorkshire, I can easily plan a day of green laning on non-scratchy lanes but I don't know other areas as well.

Thanks JonM, non-scratchy green laning sounds exactly what I am looking for. Will follow up on those links you provided, much appreciated.
I’m down near Bristol, the countryside and even surfaced unclassified roads down here tend towards the narrow compared with gods own country I suspect.
Definitely need to enjoy this car for its capabilities, rather than just using it for its family friendly stuff - even if the latter was prime buying reasons.
