new wagon
Good afternoon , this is my first post on here although disco4 net and defender 2 net ive always used .
its time to upgrade the family car and have found a 2020 hse i like
my question is about security , ive actually got a steel anti ram rain bollard for my defender but my wife will end up driving into this #
can i disable keyless entry , and fit a ghost alarm, i dont fancy anyone breaking in to nick this with the family in the house ?
any advise greatly appreciated !

The keyless entry was upgraded from MY2019 and is a lot more secure against relay theft than the older versions.
Whatever extra security you add to the vehicle won't stop people breaking in to your house to get the keys unless they can see the security and know that they still won't be able to steal the car even if they get the keys. Hidden or stealthy security may be effective at stopping them getting away with the car but by if they are going to break in to get the keys they will do that before the security stops them.

Just check that the Ghost is available for your year , not yet available for 2021 models , had it on my D4 and removed it on sale and son has it on his Audi now ..

If they cant get the car to start they are even more likely to come into the house and attack your family to get the car.

If you're priority is protecting you home and family from a home invasion, then leave the car unlocked with the keys clearly visible on the driver's seat........

Think I’d move to an area with a lower crime rate or simply buy a second hand Corsa rather than preoccupy myself with the prospect of it getting nicked.
The other option is to make the car a permanent kennel for a couple of Dobermans.

I’m not a big believer in over protecting the car. Lock it, put keys somewhere safe but not in Fort Knox. I’m not bothered with faraday bags and the like, i would rather a thousand relay thefts than a single break in to my house.
If they took it, I’d miss my daughter’s child seat and LR bear far more than the vehicle itself.

Why turn off keyless? That makes a house break in more likely.
Honestly, whilst I don’t wish the car to go, i would far rather Johnny Scrote and his tooled up mates had it away without crossing my threshold. Keyless security flaw almost a bonus.
