P360 vs P400, why does the Defender get something different?

Anyone heard why the Defender has the P400 and the D5 the P360? They're just differing maps on the same engine, right? Why does JLR give more oomph (and worse MPG) to the Defender?

Maybe it's more of a question on my send of the Atlantic, as you guys have more powertrain choices in general.

Maybe because it is a heavier car?
