    Windscreen replacement

    Any advice or tips please. My only 4 month old D5 needs a screen replace (stone chip crack). Do I get it done at a dealer? or Autoglass type company. I think it is supposed to be ‘solar attenuating’ can I demand LR original part. Anything else I should ask or know??

    Go through your insurance, dealers generally don't do them, they get a windscreen company in to do them. Autoglass have done my last 2 screens D4 & D5, they know about the D5 leaks so will normally do a thorough job and recalibrate the cameras at same time.

    Also, in both cases I requested a genuine LR OE screen, Autoglass confirmed with insurance and got the the correct screen based on VIN number via the LR parts network.

    I had two windscreens replaced via insurance last year. Auto windscreens were the contractor both times.

    Despite me telling them i had HUD and solar attenuating, the first time they arrived with the wrong one. The guy stepped out of his van, took one look from 5 metres away and said 'they've given me the wrong screen'. It was replaced a couple of days later. And again about three months later after another crack.

    Great service despite the mis-ordering at the beginning.
