I bought off the net a piece of aluminium tread plate 1 metre X 0.3 metre and had a local friendly engineering workshop to fold over the edge .
Attached it with some sticky number plate pads and it worked really well.
Good very cheap option and easy to clean after dogs jumping in and out of the car .
No marks left when car sold and I’ve still kept it as it may come in handy one day!
Thanks, I spotted some of those but was a little worried about the dogs paws when they jumped up ?, I have a pair of lab’s so won’t be picking them up and putting them in if that makes sense.
I do have a great little engineering firm in the village who could probably fettle one like yours.
I wouldn't have a metal plate because they will use their claws to pull themselves up, especially as they age, and they won't get any purchase on the metal plate.
the carpet that covers it is actually quite good. If you're looking for something that's durable, there are fold-out quilted liners like this that provide some protection from dirt and claws, but of course Land Rover's are expensive:
