Tailgate Design Issues
I suspect that the inner tailgate cannot remain extended with the outer tailgate closed. So probably you can't use it to clean the back of the roof or to provide a platform on which to stand and get a better view. It also doesn't look big enough to act as a workbench and I am wondering if you have to displace items at the back of the load space or even remove long items in order to operate it. Can anyone add any light on this?
Also I wonder what the view out of the back is when it's raining and there's mud on the camera lens? The narrow rear screen must mean that the windscreen wiper is short and the swept area small and similar to a BMW or Audi?

You are correct, you cannot use the shelf to stand on to clean the roof. It is really only a seat and shelf to work on. When the tailgate is closed, the shelf sits in an upright position so is clear of any internal loads. On the demo model at Solihull. it was possible to fold it up and down manually (that is to say once a year
) but has also an electrical operating system. I'm not sure if that was the default for all models.
I can't comment on rear view.
