Hi everyone, I am currently looking for a set of new tyres for my D5 and wondered if anyone with 22" alloys had fitted 285 45 22s. If so were there any problems or rubbing
I can get the standard 285 40 22 size but would prefer to go up a bit in sidewall size if they fit with no issues
What did you discover? I'd also like a bit more sidewall, the alternative I've considered is downgrading the alloys to 20".
I wonder, if you did install larger tyres how do you reconfigure the speedo etc? My Ottofix D1 has a service function 'change wheel size' but on this car it says 'not supported'.
Ended up getting 285 45 22 yokohama geolander a/ts. Tyre place couldn't get a set of 4 grabbers anytime soon so opted for the yokohamas. £70 per tyre cheaper too 😎

SJT - what size tyres do you have on your 20" Defender rims and do you know the specs/size of the rim as in the width and offset - or are they all standard? My current tyres are going to need replacing this summer so will be my best chance of trying this out.
How would you say they transform the ride? handling still ok, not too boat like? I'm really looking for a bit more forgiveness with potholes and rough roads. Our sons school is down a series of heavily abused country lanes and that's not much fun on 22's with lowish profile tyres, often have to ride the muddy banks to pass people too.
If you do get a minute to look at what size and type of tyre you're running on them it would be appreciated but no hurry.
