    Velcro doesn't stick - boot

Hey guys, a bit weird question but hey hou....

has anyone ever managed to get a velcro that sticks to the liner/ carpet or side walls of disco boot? I have the 25MY and have bought and tried 6 different types, including some high quality velcro made by velcro to some cheap ones, but nothing holds in place, not even tiny bit...

Just want to hold some items in place or on the wall so it doesn't move and hit the sides of boot at every single corner...

Can you post a link of picture or something if you managed to find one?

    Thanks a lot

Are you sticking the Velcro to both pieces that you wish to hold or just one?
    Confused.🫤

The easiest way to stop stuff rolling around in the boot is to clip a cargo net or adjustable ratchet straps onto the tie down D-rings in the boot. Even with a full length rubber boot liner, there are removable cut out sections in it to allow access to the D-rings without removing the liner...

Although I'm still mightily confused about exactly what you want...

    Gotcha Mike.

What I did on the D4 was to attach one side of a 4" wide Velcro strip (the hook side) to the side panels in the boot by drilling 4 small holes in the strip and pop riveting them on (you could also try self tapping screws or flat headed screws with nuts and washers), once they were loosely attached by the glue tape on the back onto where I wanted. The second strip (the hairy side) that holds the bottles and stuff can now be unvelcro'd and reattached without peeling the base strip off the panel....

You need both sides of the velcro for it to work, you can't just stick one half of a Velcro strip onto the carpeting or side panels, or stick double sided Velcro with glue backing...no matter what that advert says. The glue...no matter how strong...won't stay stuck to the carpeting material on those side panels for more than a couple of uses at best..

I fixed some fluid bottles and a fire extinguisher with riveted or screwed backing strips on the side panels...they were still there and working when I sold the D4. Thumbs Up

That's a good idea, I was just hoping for less permanent solution...

I am not sure what is the material used but if anyone would tell me that it doesn't hold i wouldn't believe it Laughing

At least I know it's not only me

For the D5...I got one of these things from Ebay. Which was fine until I realised I've got rear air con and the bag didn't have a recess to fit in to Rolling Eyes

    Storage Bag Linky

I still use it for the same purpose..but now it's just shoved up against the back of the 2nd row seats...(with all the pliers and screwdrivers fitted to it)

Jeez, they've certainly went up in price...I put the link up without checking the cost. I paid around 50 quid for mine when I bought it in November/December last year Shocked

It's definitely well worth what I paid for it...but at 80 quid, even though I know how useful it is, I'd be thinking twice Neutral

    Edit:

Just checked my Ebay purchase history...I bought it at an introductory Black Friday sale price in November last year, that's why it was cheaper Rolling Eyes

Damn it… another ebay item that has to be purchased!! It was a super dooper torch last time! Stop it please.

As for velcro… can you not get side nets?

I'm still getting over the whole shiny torch cult thing that Narpy started...

As for side netting/storage...they also do those very handy things Whistle

I wasn't too sure about them though. Attaches to the window with suckers...plus the price.

Yea the bag looks great and will solve half of items flying around eg. Fuel can.

Looking at the pictures on the eBay link it looks like it sticks by glue/adhesive on velcro so not sure if that's good for temporary fix. But regardless of that price, it looks like something I am have tried to achieve with velcro only... Banging Head

I was really hoping someone will just come and say I am using a wrong velcro and there is one that sticks and hold in place.

So thanks a lot for all ideas guys Wink

You know what I really miss about my D4? The high level storage rack I fitted in the boot...the one that fits onto the rear grab handle mounts. I wish some enterprising Chinese dudes would reinvent one for the D5 Neutral

    Not mine...but like this one...

Have you tried the 3M Dual Lock?
It’s like a plastic Velcro and sticks very well.
    Here’s a link: https://ebay.us/m/BTSho3
Take a look, see what you think, it is very good. I have some that I erm…..erm……..obtained from a previous employer.😳
If you only need a bit let me know, or can send you a piece if you’d like to try it out.
It sticks to itself so If you buy 1 metre, you’ll get 500mm of Velcro.

There are some, admittedly, very tempting modular boot rack kits for the D5...but the price!! £350+ . Would have to be another Black Friday sale before I bit the bullet on one. Neutral

Do I want one? Hell yes...
Do I actually need one? Of course not...but I'm sure I'd find plenty of stuff to put on it. Mr. Green
