Petrol supercharged
Good morning
all new member here looking to move from a discovery 4 to a discovery 5 looking at either a 2019 / 2020 3.0 l diesel or perhaps the 3 L petrol supercharged. I cannot seem to find any information. Any reviews. Any test drives on the supercharged petrol version, can anybody offer any Advice based on their experience with a petrol supercharged discovery?
Thanks

Petrol - 25mpg average when you drive conservatively.
Goes like stink when you don't though.
Might just get to 30mpg on a run.
There are two rules for success,
1. Never tell everything you know.

You will do well to locate a petrol SI6 in UK…there aren’t many about.
I’ve got one and it’s a lovely car to drive. “Elephant on steroids”.
I do a lot of urban cycle driving so average mpg is invariably low 20s. I’ve never got more than 30 on a long run. Most recent 100mile A1 trip was 29.3. Towing 1700kg caravan high teens only.
The trouble is the temptation to use its acceleration to excess when overtaking! It flies!!! lol
Mine has suffered with an annoying resonance noise at constant speeds between 28-33mph. JLR have failed to identify or correct this after 3years. I gave up in the end. It’s definitely something related to the differential as it pulsing frequency is 1/3 of the road wheel speed. I just ignore it and wait to see if one day it materialises into something else that can locate and identify it.
Leaking windscreen (has returned 2 years after refitting windscreen), air suspension compressor, window mechanism failure, O2 sensor failure, black plastic trim crazing & ageing badly (not garaged) ……that’s about it …..so far.
What attracted it to me is that apart from the above it seems to avoid some of the other issues mentioned on here relating to diesel engines.
Hopefully not tempted fate by posting.

Plenty of us have the the 3.0L TDV6 or SDV6 diesel engines so owner reviews are a bit easier to come by than the much rarer petrol...the diesels aren't nearly as quick as the petrol...but still far nippier and more responsive than the D4.
I came over to the D5 from a 2015 D4...to me, the D5 drives and feels more like a big car than a 'proper' Land Rover on the roads...if you know what I mean. Off-road...it certainly earns it's Land Rover badge.
Fuel economy is around 10 mpg better than an Si6...Around our small island, which is similar to urban cycle driving... I average 38 to 39.5 mpg. Towing a hosebox or loaded trailer, around 29-30 mpg. Long hauls and motorways the few times I've driven it on the UK mainland...low 40's mpg on my 2017 TDV6.
As for reliability, the diesels haven't inherited the D4's chocolate crankshaft but aside from that...pernickety DPF system, fragile window regulators, occasional reports of the same leaky windscreen issue. Otherwise, similar reliability issues to a D4...except they don't rust.
Ignore LR's recommended service intervals and change oil and filters every 5,000 miles.
With either the petrol or the diesel...you'll be pressing a lot of virtual buttons on screens and scrolling through digital dashboard menus perpetually scratching your head figuring out what all the electronic nonsense does
Avoid the 2.0L diesel Ingenium like a plague of boils...it'll randomly explode.

I suppose the best review I can give you…..if I could find a 2023/4 version I would buy it.
