  Gearbox service ZF 8 speed how-to.

  Easy but messy DIY job on a D5...compared to a D3 or D4, there's no centre cross member to remove.
  
  Top tip...don't wear nice clothes when doing it
  
  This is an American video courtesy of Lucky 8, so replace 'quarts' with litres. Approximately 7L needed for the fluid change but the transmission fluid usually comes with the service kit.
  
  The replacement oil pan contains an integrated filter and acts as a gasket too...so no need for replacement gaskets. The oil pan also comes supplied with new bolts.
