    Disco 5 2020' Infotainment

    All,

Went to pick my new Disco up today. And this button doesn't work / do anything. Left it at the garage and luckily hadn't paid anything for the car yet.

Think its the settings button. All other buttons do as they should and when you press this one, it recognises it is being pressed, but nothing happens.

    Anybody seen this before?

Yes. it’s the universal settings button that’s active for which ever function page you are on.

Is that because (on that screen) you have the parking sensors highlighted? What happens if you touch the camera icon?

Hmmm, maybe its just me not knowing how to work the system. I was pressing this button thinkin that the general system settings would pop up. But no matter what i was pressing, nothing happened.

I dont have the car to test anything out, i just panicked that the system settings were not accessible.

The settings icon is greyed out when the reversing camera is active as shown in your pic...or any of the external cameras. It's quite normal. It's active when the display is on any of the main function screens as Wolfpack mentioned.

From the home screen, you can also swipe the display left with your finger (like your phone)...it brings up more pages of goodies containing things like wade sensors and 4X4 info like a compass and inclinometer as well as a real time 3D visual aid for your E-Diffs, suspension, steering angle and axle travel, most of which I still haven't played with.

You can also set and syncronize your AC temperatures front and rear, operate the heated seats and raise or lower the 2nd and 3rd row seats and drop the rear headrests individually from that screen...as well as tons of other stuff.

The external camera settings are in the camera menu if you press the camera button. Have a play around with the various screen menus and see what they do, you can't break anything by pressing buttons on that screen...otherwise they wouldn't be there for you to play with. Just touch the home button (little house icon) and it'll take you back to the main screen from any of the sub menus. Thumbs Up

Once you get the car home and you're comfy with it after a few weeks...we'll talk you through getting the Land Rover Remote app and setting up the InControl stuff on your phone. That might be jumping way ahead on something you probably haven't thought about yet...but besides being a pretty useful tool, it'll remove any previous owners details from the InControl settings.

It's great to see that you're asking about stuff before you get the car...after all, as D5 owners, answering questions outside of any influence from Land Rover or dealership marketing blurb and helping out (if we can) is why most of us are here. We've all been exactly where you are and picked up the slightly stained Discovery 5 T-shirts along the way Mr. Green

You need to go back to the Home button and hit the settings button there to get access to each pages settings eg camera settings.

But as Moley says there are looks of screen options and you need to take your time working through them all. You can even set up your own My Screen with just the selected functions that YOU want to access routinely.

Wow thanks for the tips. I downloaded the app, but as you can imagine, its locked to another user. I had set about thinking of getting the user removed, but hearing stories of £80-£100 charge from LR. I mean i will pay that if needed, just need all the documentation in my name first.

Yeah, i think there may be something wrong with the Unit. No matter which screen im in, the setting button doesnt do anything (dealer tried for me today). Hes getting it looked at though a specialist, and of course will need fixed before i buy the car. Just hope it can be done, as i love that car. Hopefully just a software update / reset or new battery on. If not, may need a new unit, which i cant imagine will be cheap. But dealer responsibility at the minute.

My dealer did mine foc….condition of sa!e. Thumbs Up

It’s not just the app, the LR recovery (button in the roof) needs to be linked to your account/ownership

InControl is quite unique in that your user info is stored by JLR and not on the phone app...since it's also linked to your D5 and VIN locked. You can only remove the previous owners details by contacting InControl support by phone...who are very helpful.

    Phone 0370 500 0500 and then option 3.

The guys at InControl customer support will explain how it all works and walk you through setup and linking to your D5...it's not that complicated and takes around 5 minutes.

Removing the previous owner's details and adding yours is free...it's only the subscription for the the remote features that costs anything at all. When I had the previous owners details removed from mine, they gave me a month FOC just to try it before I paid for anything.

All you need to register your details is to email InControl support with some pics of the first 3 pages of your V5. (they'll give you the email address when you phone)

The cost of LR Remote/InControl is £40 per year or £60 for 2 years subscription. Quite honestly, it's well worth that sub fee just for the remote functions. I reckon just about everyone who uses LR Remote will tell you the same.

Again. Excellent info Mole. Thanks man. Car delayed while its getting serviced. Needs some parts from LR and they haven't managed to fix this infotainment issue yet either.
