    D300 gearbox overheat warning

    Hi, I was towing my trailer up a hill and the engine seemed to over rev. a bit. Further on the yellow gearbox overheat light came on and I pulled over and the cooling fan was working overtime. After a few minutes I restarted the engine and there was no warning light. I gingerly drove home with no further issues.

    Any ideas what can cause the over heating and can i drive the vehicle safely (with no trailer ) for a few days until I can get into the garage for a check over?

    Did the car go into limp mode?

    No limp mode just the orange overheating light on the dash and over revving a bit
