Intermittent TPMS Fault and Fault Codes
I had my wheels and tyres changed a couple weeks ago for winter Nokians.
Went from 21" to 20" with correct sizing as per LR specs.
They installed Wurth TPMS on said wheels, programmed each one to match the same TPMS serial number/recognition number as the LR's that came off.
I was told by the tyre garage that i will have issues until i get my summer wheels out of the boot (as i would have two of each serial number in range of detection) and then a couple of drives and all should be fine.
Every second drive i get the TPMS Fault in the dash. So if i drive from work to go home, it will light up the fault icon and as to push OK to clear, and it will not show the pressure in Vehicle Information.
It stays parked overnight. When i start it the Fault icon is still lit. Once i get above 50 km/h it goes out and i can read the pressures. Get to work and it stays parked all day. Once i get driving back home it will be fine until i get off the motorway, then the fault icon lights up and i cannot read the pressure anymore.
This has been going on for a fortnight.
I stopped at the tyre garage this morning for them to have a look. Took a while to get to see them as until 15 December they are swamped with winter tyre installs. (15 Dec is the day winter tyre law goes in effect here in the Province of Quebec).
So, this morning everything was fine in the D5, no fault codes or lit icons. They scanned the D5 for fault codes concerning tyres (it doesn't have the D5 but the FFRR was chosen). There's a code for both rear sensors but no detail. Online he found something about a possible interference from outside sources such as bluetooth and the likes.
Since the icon was not lit he figures it would be best to come back when the icon is lit up. So i leave. Within a few hundred meters, just as i was about to get onto the motorway, it lit up. So i circle around and get back to the garage. He plugs in his scanner and scans the whole car. At least a dozen codes pop up, three for different Bus errors, something about the left headlight and others i cannot recall. both rear sensors are also in there.
So i left and called my LR dealership to get a service appointment. On Monday AM. Not bad, i thought it could be weeks worth of wait.
I will have them look into my Remote App Starter issues at the same time. And i thought there would be system updates for the Infotainment and was told her LR system says i'm up to date. From what i read on here i think there's an update but what do i know.
Has anyone else had issues with the TPMS ? or a bunch of fault codes that don't show up in the dash ?

I have low pressure warnings when we had the first low temperatures a couple of weeks ago, nothing since as it has warmed up.
I get my winters put on next week, we will see what happens

I've dropped the D5 at the dealership this morning.
They tell me the 3rd party TPMS sensors need to be programmed by Land Rover only.
That's why i get an intermittent fault ??? Doesn't make sense to me, but they'll charge me 1 hours worth to fix it. (145$CAD).
I also asked them to look into my Remote Start app not working and they say i simply had to put the iPhone app in Always using Location instead of While Using the App.
Seems like BS to me but we'll see.
They also said the reason for Network Delay errors is because the 3G network in Canada is owned by Rogers and all others piggyback on it, so they don't have access to full bandwidth.
I'm with Fido, which is owned by Rogers, so i would think i shouldn't have any issues.
Then i was told Land Rover Canada is working on trying to fix the Network Delay issue on their end...so which is it, the network or the LR system ?
I got a courtesy car for the day while they program the TPMS. I get to drive a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
First impressions...what a piece of insert expletive of your liking.
VERY noisy and the winter tyres they put on ride like they are square. At 110 km/h it sounds like i'm driving a combine harvester. OK, i've never been near one, but i assume it's loud and not much fun to listen to when on the motorway.

And apparently there is no update for my VIN.
Updates for the UK are not automatically spread worldwide. I wonder why that is.
It's the same vehicle.

So i get a call at 16:45 (they shut at 17:00) to tell me two of the TPMS don't work and the other two are causing communication problems.
So i either bring them four new ones or they sell me LR ones for 135$ each plus an hour for programming.
So i gave the go ahead to install the LR ones. If i get any issues then it will be on them.
Now i'm stuck with this shyte Jeep
and we should be getting the first major snow storm overnight and tomorrow.
I was eager to try the D5 in the snow, guess it will have to wait until the next one

well you can feel the snow and gravel settings kicking in on side roads and sharp loops, I have not got my winters yet (trip to Ukrainian Tire tomorrow!) but things felt more secure than the LR3. Actually the D5 was a nice place to be in this morning drove in from the border on the 40. Not sure what the trip home will be like but an excuse to slip away early from work

Called to see if it would be ready for lunch time...no.
They had other cars come in this morning and had mechanics work on those. When he heard my sigh, he then goes on to tell me they were missing 2 TPMS, out of inventory. They ordered them this morning and only just received them...yeah right. If they are JLR ones they would not get there that quick.
The JLR main office is outside of Toronto (340 miles away) and there's a snow storm today. So they either come from a regular parts dealer, or it's a lie... again !
I deal directly with the sales manager and had issues with him too, imagine if i was dealing with a regular salesman.
Customer Service was contacted by the sales director on two other subjects (my boot rubber mat and the delivery boy's lack of knowledge). I never heard back from them and the sales director told me customer service failed on that one. So they know they suck, and don't do anything to change it.
I don't think i will go back there again (Jaguar Land Rover Laval). There's a closer one to me called Decarie Motors that also deal Bentley and Aston Martin. One would imagine they deal with tough customers with deeper pockets than mine. But i have a feeling not many JLR dealers even care. People buy them anyway.
Ughhh, this rant comes nowhere near feeling better about this subject.
