Car tax & vehicle registration
Should car tax & vehicle registration be added to bill?
I thought the Car ( HSE ) price was "on the road"

Peter,
It is OTR but VED and 1st Reg fee will be itemised as you don't pay VAT on them so the bill needs them to be broken out.
The total, assuming no extra's should match the (current) OTR.
OTR after 1st April will go up as the OTR has a small print about the "VED at the time"

I've been told to expect a £300 or so increase if my car arrives in April.

That's right.
1st April Year 1 for band J is £800.
Years 2-6 you'll pay £140+£310 then from Year 7 onwards just the £140.
"Early. Birds" will pay £500 then £270 from year 2 onwards!
