2019 Discovery SDV6 HSE Silicon Silver

    Test Drive

Spent the morning with a 3l Diesel Disco 5 HSE Lux,

WOW permagrin locked in place, cant wait to take delivery of mine.

The two issues I had where:- no off road rear recovery and the corners of the tail gate when open.

Well there is a nice big rear recovery eyelet.

The corner of the tailgate on the car in the showroom that was sat in access mode was 6ft 2" from the ground so I'm happy with that as i'm only 6ft 1"

Not going to say anymore other than go and do a test drive Thumbs Up

Been out in the new D5 this morning 3.0 HSE , bit of a disappointment as there seems to be less grunt under the bonnet compared to my current D4 even though it is 480kg lighter. Interior is much more plush like the Range Rover which is very nice. Body rolls more than the D4 which is a shame thought they would have stiffened up cornering, yes it's no sports car but you would think it would be more controlled to level.

Rear seats sit lower than the fronts so not sure what's going on there as it's supposed to be stadium seating. Rechecked the front seats to make sure that they were not in the high position which they weren't. You seem to sit more lower down in the rear with knees higher up as well. Not sure what's gone on here so confused to say the least.

Overall very nice vehicle would I love it more than my D4 I honestly don't think I would Sad

There should be a recovery point at the rear behind the bumper cover. It's a big hoop welded to the rear end.

So it is. He posted no rear recovery was a let down. I just found that picture in another thread. It is his. I am now confused to why he stated no rear recovery point?

He posted that one worry was it didn't have a rear recovery point (as we'd looked at early, pre-production models). He saw the one this morning and it did. Hence the pic.

    That makes sense Stu.

Weird that the early editions are different.

The early cars were pre- production and were not even legal to drive on the road.
They looked the part and visually correct, but had lots of items missing.

Well went out in a D5 today for a run around 3.0 HSE Lux. Did normal roads stop start traffic and then motorway.
Initial thoughts were it was noisier than the D4 that was till I got back in the D4 then realised it was a lot quitter in the D5.
The car felt very sure footed, acceleration was better then the D4 and so was handling and cornering. Stop start seemed a lot better and more responsive, cutting in and out much better.
One down side for me was the cameras can no longer be activated on the move...........
Sat nav and control panel seemed a lot more refined and a lot quicker.
Seats were comfy certainly in the front, Mark did think the 2nd row was a bit stiffer than the D4.
Overall I was impressed and it seemed to be a much more premium vehicle.
Whilst there got talking to a couple with a RRS2, they had just driven it and thought that it was better than the RRS2 to the pint they were looking to possibly order a D5 1st Edition.

Namib Orange 1st Edition with black roof and wheels.
Privacy, tow bar, drive pack, surround camera, heated front & rear seats, auto dim door mirrors, side steps, remote Pro, RSE, arm rest fridge dash cam front and rear.
