  I try to keep the movie files compact, usually 720x480 25fps with a bitrate 900kbps. Stereo audio only MP3 container at 128kbps. I used to find playback could be a problem on the old rrs entertainment system if bit rates were higher. Maybe this helps?

  Mine are mostly 1080p30 with a variable bitrate, audio is stereo 160 bitrate. Am using handbrake HQ 1080p30 surround settings most of the time.
  
  Next time I’ll try a lesser quality to see the effect
