    D5 - On fire - Really...

    Hi,

I just read in a German LR forum, that a D5 with the 2.0 L engine caught fire and burned until it was extinguished by firemen.
The guy who posted it said it was a courtesy vehicle and his dealer told him, that this was the 4th or 5th D5 with the 2.0L engine, that the dealer knows of, to catch fire.
Supposedly it's the Mitsubishi turbocharger that causes this.

Have seen a brand new F-type going into flames myself a few years ago.

I don't know whether it's Mitsubishi or BorgWarner.
The driver of that unfortunate D5 wrote that his dealer said "the Mitsubishi turbos seem to be the issue here...". So no idea if that's true or not. Smile

Mitsubishi provide the single turbo on lower output Ingeniums

Not heard of any fires in the UK ...maybe it's a German thing Laughing

Unfortunately my D5 went on fire back in August. It was an interior fire though. The fire brigade said they have seen faulty heated seats causing what happened. The actual cause has still not been confirmed though. 3 months in and still no resolution in sight.
