Call out LR assistance and put up with the stick you’ll get. Better still tell them it was the wife’s fault! Thumbs Up

If you have tow electrics fitted, you can give it power (up to 10A) via the constant live pin. The 13 pin Cteck charger adapter for the D4 works well with the D5.

Jump start it first to get it running, After the local car wash managed to run the battery down on my D4 I got myself a jump starter. Once started I would drive it around for a while and then park it up and connect the battery to a charger.
I'm not sure if a solar powered charger operating 5 hours during the day would be sufficient to charge a dead battery.

    Can you lift bonnet?
On the drivers side inner wing there is a small black plastic box that has a clipped lid
Lift the lid and this is where you can attach the positive cable of your battery charger
The negative goes to the bare stud just in front of the plastic box
I have the comfort charger cable connected there and trickle charge my battery that way

    Zero Volt.

Any suggestions as to a starter power pack that will function when the vehicle battery is totally dead (Zero Volts). Most seem to need to "see" the battery (Low Volts).

Car totally dead today, no response to the key fob ad had to use the "manual" key to enter the vehicle. I last used the vehicle two days ago, no warning lights of any description.

Is this typical of a flat battery?

Does the method of charging described above work? the I guide seems to suggest battery removal (by a dealer ) is required if you need to charge the battery.

Yes, these are the symptoms of a dead battery. Had it once with a Volvo and they replaced the battery. It’s like a light bulb, once gone, no remedy to fix I was told. And you are never warned when the battery/light bulb will give up. After 3 years they advised to change it anyway. Since then I use ctek chargers and never had battery problems since (but I sell my cars every 3-4 years)
But it can be a faulty alternator as well of course or ignition switch.
Are you able to put on the lights?

After my dead battery I bought this as well, very cheap, to test my batteries and alternator.

At least it will tell your battery is really dead.

Could `I bump an unanswered point ....the imanual states the battery has to be removed for charging. Are we saying it’s ok to ignore that? I’ve got both a Ctek charger as well as the 13pin tow electric charging connector.

My battery was saying it was low charge this morning after days trying to load a software update. Even the powered tailgate wouldn’t work!. I did the old fashioned trick of giving it a 30mile run (I had to go anyway) so it should be ok for now. But it would be helpful for future info to confirm charging while the battery in place won’t do any damage.

    Thanks

Yes you can without any concern, I do it quite regularly, no problem at all. Use the 2 specific points left side under the bonnet and you are good. I use both the CTEK 5 amps and 3 amps if I remember well, depending which one lays closest to the car Wink and let it on the whole day or night.

finally got around to getting this sorted.

As predicted a flat/dead Battery. Towed to the dealer etc etc battery replaced as well as the a\car play update "recall".
