Replacing Balance Shaft, am I the first D5?

Unfortunately, I am sad to report my balance shafts need to be replaced under warranty. This seems to be a common issue with the DS. After searching on this forum and Disco5forum I cant find any others suffering the same problem. FML

My car is in the same mileage range as yours but no signs yet (that I know of!)

In hindsight what do you see as the very early signs on your car?

It seems to be an issue with the ingenium engines, If you google "Ingenium engine balancer shafts" you'll find reports from Disco Sport and Evoque owners.

    Oh dear Sad
When I noticed the absence of the real Discovery I thought I'd got away with it,
Mind you, I've only had mine since April but the problems I have had with the 3 litre engine have been horrendously inconvenient.
More so because the LR garages have been so busy and no courtesy cars available for ages.
I still have the Spare tyre warning light to live with until LR come up with a new software up date.

    Replacement balancer shafts

    Thought I had done well.
Started getting a whistling sound at about 2000rpm that died off just over the 2000rpm
Thought it was turbos on the way out.
D5 July 2017 only done just over 8000 miles.
Booked in to be told be told require balancer shafts need replacing.
Looked on line and apparently certain D5, DS, Evoques, and RRS with 2.0l Ingenium engines are affected.
Some of the lucky ones had new engines.
Obviously Land Rover realized how much it was costing and moved the goal posts.
Now just replace the shafts which appears okay but I believe the bearings come ready pressed on the shaft and other bearings are fitted in the engine which they do not replace.
If this is the case will probably fail again ( and no doubt out of warranty )
dependant on what has been damaged,
Looks like I'm going to have to raid the piggy bank and leave Discos after 25+ years of ownership.
Big Cry or is it Thumbs Up Rolling with laughter
