time to move on
Hi all
My partner has had her D5 for about 2 yrs now and has decided to move on to a new vehicle and is giving it back this weekend and picking up a 2014 2.2 TDCI defender xs - and is jolly excited about it all !
She has enjoyed the D5 and has used it off road often as well as covering a lot of on road miles in comfort and bliss, but we have a long term plan for the future where we are looking to reduce our costs and ease of maintenance, with commonality of vehicles and spares.
Living with the D5 in the SW has been fine - its just a bit wider than expected on the country roads, the load space hasn’t been an issue but there was a fault in the engine management system that took a few days to be sorted out in Bristol - but the Valar loan car made up for the wait!
The winters saw it being used in anger on callouts with 4x4 response and handled snow and ice in its stride, doing several long runs in poor conditions.
The ad blu was a bit of a pain till we found out that the garage was only topping it up with a Ltr rather than fill up to the brim.
However she gives the D5 5 out of 5 stars for comfort and drivability (and pose value
)
so pastures new, in a retro sort of way ..!

ahhh - its not the newest latest shiny defender - its the traditional 2.2 2014 model - a step back to basics so to speak
.. our long term plan is to have a less complicated model and not a new one !

After almost 2 years mine is now gone as well, kids not happy, but time to move on (once borders open again...). This time to Eastern Africa. Still doubting if I should buy a D5 again or the new Defender or ...
