    D5 demos in America

D5 demos are starting to show up at dealers in Los Angeles, Miami and other major cities. My local dealer said 2 weeks till we get ours to test drive.

I know this isn't big news in Europe at all since the D5 demos were there long ago and now customers are driving their own new Discos. For us here in the States, this is fantastic news.

All I could do is watch the Arizona test videos and drool. In a couple weeks I may be able to drive one.

Dealer called this morning while I was in work meeting. Their Service Representative just showed up at the dealership with a new Discovery and would be there for the next 2 hours if I wanted to drop by.

Work tied me up and the very short notice prevented me from sitting in one first hand today. Bummer.

D5 demo arrived today at my local JLR dealer. It was a HSE 3.0L petro with a few options. Color was corris gray. There was a RRS next to it in kaikoura stone, the color I ordered. Side by side, I prefer kaikoura stone.

In person walk-around, the D5 is a fantastic car. Interior is better then expected.

Salesman took the D5 and me through their Demonstration Course. This course flexes the front and rear axles to their maximum, has a vertical ascent and descent for approach, break-over and departure angles and finally a side incline 24°. The D5 of course did all with ease as it was built for it.

Yes, I had to sit in the back seat. It's a back seat just as any other car. I am aware there are cars with very comfy back seats. Those cars lack the off-road capabilities the D5 exhibits. The D5 and its less then comfy back seats will suit my needs only because I typically have one passenger when I go on extended trips. The D5 has more then enough cargo capacity then I will need with all rear seats down.

Lastly, coworkers will be fine in back seat for weekday work lunch trips. They will have to draw straws for the front passenger seat.

Ordered - HSE 3.0 V6 Diesel Kaikoura Stone 20" Black pack + more.
