Snow Tyre advice
Ok, so I have 21" alloys - Finding a "snow tyre" is pretty unlikely, even Goodyear Vector 4s are not available in this size. We all know, honestly, that the AT3's are poor at pretty much everything with over twice the stopping distance in cold/wet compared to the next best cold tyre so they won't be touching this car.
The 20" option fro JLR is proving similar and the 19" option has a tyre size of 255/60R19 which is about as rare as rocking horse poo.
I need a winter tyre that is snow approved for our season in the Alps in 4 weeks time.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

That's annoying, I had just found some really nice looking 19" wheels with snow tyres that would have looked epic
Are the Nokians really that good?

Don’t know about on a Disco, but I had Nokians on a RWD BMW for several winters and they were insanely good - transformed it into a completely sure-footed car in snow and ice.
I’m guessing the standard 21” Pirelli scorpion zeros won’t be much cop in snow - that’s what’s on my car.

Yep, and they're low all around and to be honest, pretty useless in the summer dry too.

I run Scorpion Winter tyres. have nothing to compare them with but they seem okay . 255/55/20
Approved winter tyres are mandatory here from Dec through to April that said the choice is very limited
F50, Fourtack, LR3 and now..............D5 HSE TDV6

Hi, I have the Pirelli Scorpion Winter 275/45 R21 110V.
I only swap the rubber and keep the LR black wheels all year.
It's now my third winter with them, very good in daily winter situations in Luxembourg... rain and ... rain;) no slipping, sliding etc.
Handling and controlling the car in snow and ice is also good, never had any problems in Switzerland in the alps, never had to put chains on.

What tyres are you currently using?
Ps I have used Nokian on a BMW as well, night and day difference.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 SUV. The best studless winter tire available, and low rolling resistance to boot, so you'll see a boost in fuel economy on road trips. Comes in the OEM 255/55-20 and 275/45-21 here in the US.
Tread compound has glass particles embedded in it, and it stays soft in the coldest temps you'd ever want to drive in. Unfortunately anything much warmer than freezing and it's like driving on chewing gum, not that the D5 is a canyon carver anyway.

Thanks all, I have the Pirelli Scorpian at the mo. They're low and one has a very slow puncture.
I'll probably go for the Nokians and swap back to something more useful in the UK after Feb.
