to be fair, we rarely use the 7 seats (every 6 or 8 weeks and usually its "well we have a 7 seater so can do that") so it might work.

Will see in another 18 months.....

That 45e drivetrain must be a dream. I loved the electric silence of the RRS PHeV, but the four cylinder attached let it down a bit. With the six cylinder B58 (which I know is a peach from my last car) attached, the 45e must be incredibly refined.

I have a X7 24 hour test drive starting tomorrow, just a 30d, wish they had a 45e available as that would be a shoe-in!

After driving diesels for the last upteen years I had forgotten how refined and quiet a decent petrol could be.

The BMW 3 litre petrol is so good, do try to get a test drive.
I am surprised your dealer does not have one for you, I have borrowed the demonstrator from Exeter twice and tried it on local runs using only electric and also cruising on the M5.

You really cannot tell when it switches power source, it is so smooth.

Sorry Jim, I should have been clearer.

I meant that it’s a shame that there is no X7 45e. We already decided that the X5 is a touch on the small side inside when we tested that last year. We also need 7 seats. It’s a real pity as I would jump at buying it with that drivetrain.

Good luck with your incoming one, it has to be pretty much the finest 5 seat SUV on the market with that engine and battery package.
