    Difference, Commercial MY18 / MY20

Does anyone know what differences there are between a MY18 and MY20 commercial please.
I know the MY20 has the higher BHP but that’s the only thing I do know.

    Thanks

The commercials may be different, but on the non-commercials from MY19 onwards you got the higher power twin turbo 3.0 V6 Diesel engine. full digital dash, Adaptive Dynamics became available as an option, new steering wheel with revised switches and I think the HUD was improved.

MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added
    MY2019 D5 HSE 3.0 SDV6 - sold to a dealer for a crazy price!

I traded my MY18 Comm HSE for MY20 Comm HSE. They are identical except the bigger engine plus I added Adaptive Dynamics. The only buttons that are different are on the steering wheel, they are no longer proper switches and are crap to use, they mostly fail to register your first command. The HUD is the unchanged, except the one on mine is faulty and LR don’t know how to fix it!
Possibly a slight button surround difference in rear for raise lowering etc.
The other difference is the lack of oil dilution problem!
Both have the spare wheel warning issue!
Both were identical HSE spec, but the new one has bad wind noise above driver. I cannot see what is causing it.
Done 6k now and fuel is a clear 2mpg better.

QWERTY, can you notice a difference with the adaptive dynamics added, I’m debating wether to add it to my order or not?

Great, thanks for the in-depth answers.

Can I just ask please, is the oil dilution still an issue on the MY18 and what is the spare wheel warning issue?

    Thanks

Oil dilution is fixed for all cars if they have been in for the updates.

    Good news Thumbs Up
I thought that was the case now.

Another question, do you just top the adblue up as needed like I do in my VW vans ?
I seem to recall my Indy saying it was more of a faff than what I was used to doing.

I just buy a 10 litre from Halfords and pour it in with a funnel as and when Ire member to check the mileage left.

    Not a problem.

It can be an issue, you have to pour slowly and allow air to escape but no great problem once you are used to it.
If you get service pack dealer will do it for you free of charge

If you drive quicker than average, on country roads, then definitely buy AD. If not, absolutely don’t. There is no night/day difference straight off, but I drive the same roads all the time so I know the corners and bumps which my previous D5 (non AD) and the D3 and D4 before, didn’t handle very well. Adaptive dynamics works very very well on these feature that I know well. AD is particularly good when the car is surprised by a quick change in direction. But also, if you drive quick, do not choose the 255 tyres, go 275 or 285. I’ve gone 255 to 275 and now 285 (22s). For a quicker driver, the combined difference is profound. My strong recommendation is 275 is optimum.
But the downside with AD, is that, at slower relaxed cruising, the ride is definitely slightly more brittle. I make this comment based before I moved from 255 tyres.
    Hope this helps.
