Hello, steps and apple cp

Just dropping in today high as I’m a new boy to the D5 gang. Had a D3, have a 2019 D sport, always had a trusty V8 1979 sIII but now in the proud owner of a shiny (nearly newJ D5! I’ve got a few days of playing and learning ahead but two initial questions for you knowledgable folk:
Not being used to the electric side steps they keep hitting me in the shins! Can they be turned off for normal use and deployed for the mother in law when required?
Also dealer tells me they did a software update to enable apple car play. There is a sim installed. But the screen doesn’t look much like apple car play to me. Is it hidden away somewhere?

Thanks all, in anticipation of more silly questions in the weeks to come. The D3 group was a great support over the years and I’m sure this will be the same.

Not sure about the steps!

Apple CP should fire up when you connect your iPhone by cable to the USB by the centre armrest.

There is a Apple CP sub menu where you can choose how it operates.
