    Running boards

    Hi
    tried a search but no joy. I’m hoping to swop my wife’s D4 for a D5 and have enjoyed for years fixed running boards that extend out beyond the door skins. This has meant spotless paint work on both sides. What is available for D5’s to protect my door skins? What is available after market? Do standard running boards protect the doors in carparks?

    I was looking at a 20 Reg D5 parked next to me the other day , it had side steps fitted and they looked like original LR Steps .
    I had a good look from the rear and if anything the steps appeared to only protrude couple of mil at most past the door , I didn't think they offered much in the way of protection from car doors opening on them but I may be wrong .
    I am interested in a set when I get my D5 sometime next month .

    Perhaps some on here can give feedback on the ones from Side Steps UK & Direct 4x4 ?

    There is plenty of feedback on different sidesteps including the ones you mention, if you do a search on “sidesteps”

    As for “door protection”, “side mouldings”, just search on the term/s. There’s lots written. Can’t believe you can’t find it.

    Sorry, but the same questions keep getting asked without people trying to find information that’s already here.

    The D5 is more rounded - I'm not sure the side steps extend beyond the door skins like the D4 ones.
