Engine POLL
I am considering to buy a 2018 2.0SD HSE.. ...and then I read two threads on engine failures on this forum.
And now I am worried : should I stick with my petrol F-Pace..

Why be worried - engines go bang for all manufactures - LR isnt any worse. Make sure you get a good warrenty and go and enjoy yourself with the car
Al
Now gone - D5 HSE 2Ltr in Corris with black roof, black & dynamic packs & 22" black alloys, a bit of a change after 2 D3's and 2 D4's

Hi Al,
I know. I had a D3 for ten years. Always had the crankshaft snapping story in the back of my mind, eventually sold it since it needed a huge overhaul and after that a dead engine would have made the
car cost in repairs many times more then its residual value.
I sold it to a aficionado, who did the overhaul I scared away from, He spent over € 12.000 in new suspension arms, air suspension, brake linings.. .. the list is endless. But he says it drives like new now..
Now I doubt on a 2017 TDV6 or a 2018 2.0SD...
Cheers,
Dan

I’d take the V6 purely on how it drives. Personal opinion, but I felt it matched the character of the car much better than the 4 (I did 2000 miles in a loan SD4).

I bought the 3.0 litre purely on the basis that a less stressed V6 was favourable to a highly stressed 2.0 litre pulling nearly 3 ton of metal.
3.0 HSE. climate HUD active diff. elec towbar. FBH and timed climate.Capability plus pack.split TV. surround sound. Intelligent seating. adaptive lights, wade sensing. 360 cameras.pro pack.cooler.advanced tow, auto park, activity key+ more!!!!

That’s the big difference harrythespider. When I had the four, I never felt the car lacked any performance. I never get the maximum out of any car anyway, too mechanically sympathetic.
But was very conscious of the amount of extra effort it put in to move the car around. Much higher revs in every gear, more change down, more lag etc. It was like me running 400m versus the SDV6 being Michael Johnson, smooth as silk.

OK Trevorb. Thanks, I didn't know that. So it should be two polls : one who did blow, one that did not..
