    Deposit Placed

    Currently own a D4, D1 & a Defender.

    Went to look at a replacement for the D4, (possibly RRS or FPace) - put a deposit on a D5😂😂. I've bought no 11 build slot apparently and will be invited to the champers launch when the time comes, believed to be late September.

    The dealer principals have been to see it in the metal.

    Shall wait & see !!

    Just awaiting a ring back from Taunton Land Rover to place a deposit on a D5. The dealer tells me that first models are expected in March/April. Fully refundable if I'm not happy with the spec/price/space & etc. Very Happy

    Advanced orders delivered in March, don't want it to be April as it will be hit by the new VED system, £140 + £310 (I think) because it's over £40k.

    Dealer tells me that they've had directions from LR this morning to group prospective D5 owners into three groups.

    Group 1 - Deposit paid.
    Group 2 - Those who have expressed and interest but haven't made a deposit.
    Group 3 - Any other Discovery owners on their books.

    These lists have to be with LR tomorrow.

    Group 1 will get priority build slots and possible invites to the Road Show or Factory.

    Paid mine this afternoon. Let's see how the shot develops.

    That's what my dealers told me, so at least they are all singing the same tune.

    1000 spaces for the preview at Gaydon so I've been told.

    If 1 May is to be the earliest delivery date, my deposit is coming back. The VED for the first five years of a £40k plus vehicle after 1 Apr 17 is £800 for the Ingenium engine. I'll probably run my current one into the deck.

    Bill,

    1. We've asked for it after the 1st May - for personal reasons and the fact that the D4 will be 3yrs old in June.
    2. First year ONLY is £800 ( included in the OTR price), after that it's £140 - like everything else - BUT you pay an additional £310 for years 2 - 6 due to price being over £40k. ( so every D5 will be hit the same).

    Hi Bill,

    I'm officially within TLR's catchment area but having been treated like something our pooch would leave under my shoe, I now give my cash to "the other Helston garages branch"....Yeovil.

    The D5 will be our fourth new Disco or RR Sport since March. 2013 we've had from them.

    I'm a Chartered Engineer and a Landy nut so we've developed a"relationship" based on mutual respect.

    I don't try and stiff them when I buy a car and they don't treat me like an idiot if I have any issues, they are also most accommodating on loan cars for service time as. I work in Bristol.

    Ask for Keiron Flack, he's the Sales Manager and has a very nice modified 90, so he 'understands'! But be warned, they are having the showroom re-built at the moment so they are operating (very well) out of a "posh tent".

    Scrumps - My experience with TLR has been totally the opposite and I went to them after being taken for a fool and a pauper by another Helston set up in Exeter. I've had one used and three new Discos from TLR and have always had good service.

    Martin Potter has been my point of contact all the way through and he has always cut to the chase immediately with "bottom" lines that I had anticipated and agreed with. It's a funny old game isn't it. Very Happy
