  Unusual engine noise?

  Hi all,
  
  I have a 19my sdv6.
  
  With the colder weather I have an engine(?) noise, at it's loudest from the front offside wheel arch, which gradually goes away as the engine warms up.
  I would describe it as a similar noise to a compressor, but with a quite loud and clear fast 'knock'.
  
  As a direct result of this, the dash rattles, deep behind the main dash display, but this also diminishes as the engine warms up.
  
  I would add that the noise and the rattle both disappear with revs, but return at idle, until the engine is warm.
  
  First world problem of course, but irritating all the same.
  
  Any thoughts?

  No help just yet...but my car is going to Stealer at the end of the month to investigate a similar rattle in same location. May not be the same but mine originally disappeared when warm...now it still occurs when warm. So getting worse. Will report back.
