    2017 Discovery Sd4 (240) HSE Loire Blue

4 days in: What I Love / Loath / Learn to Live with...

Picked up on Friday - very professional handover from Harwoods in Lewes.

    Quick summary so far:

    Love:
    Quiet / smooth
    Very nice interior
    Colour combo
    2.0 Engine
Fuel consumption: 40+ without too much trouble (reported via very sophisticated eco-stats which gives you a score for each journey)
    Seats - very comfy
    Heated steering wheel
InControl remote: Very useful and hilarious to start the engine from a distance when someone is walking by....

    Learn to Live with:
The styling. It will grow on me, but sitting next to the D3, it's just not got the rugged, go anywhere look. That said, I think the D3 / D4 will start to look quite dated soon
Infortainment - very good, but too complicated to use on the go

    Loath:
Tailgate gesture swipe thing - just can't get it to work. I'm sure the neighbours think I'm doing some sort of one legged pilates move at the back of the car...
Interior storage space. E.g. rear cubby pockets in the 3rd row. Not sure what you can keep in there. Upside though is that the children won't fill them with rubbish
InControl Remote: Minor gripe, but you can choose a password when you set the account up with a "!" in it from your PC. BUT when you try and enter a "!" on the actual car screen, guess what? There's no "!". Well not that I can find. So PW change is needed.

Overall, very happy and sure this will only improve.

Is it work 10 x more than my D3?? I guess that's a rhetorical question that any new car buyer asks themselves.

Incontrol Pro seems to be a common gripe, glad I just have the standard Incontrol.

    Any luck with this yet?
I am still struggling (not bothering)

Not sure if you have to wear clown's shoes to make it work?

None at all. If there is an art to it, then it's going to take some mastering. TBH, if we can't get it to work when you're standing there empty handed, it's pretty hopeless when it's supposed to be of benefit, i.e. fully laden with stuff and no hands free to push a button.

And.... watch out for the large roof spoiler at the top of the tailgate. We were in the Gatwick short term multi storey last night and although the car fits, when you open the boot the spoiler is very high - resulting in a BANG as it hit and smashed a light in the roof of the car park Shocked A small scratch on the spoiler, but that spoiler really reduces clearance in low car parks.

Really disappointed to hear you've resorted to reading the manual so soon. Please tell me you've banged a few desks before what can only be described as selling out. You will be stopping to ask for directions next. Laughing

You get the "!" by pressing holding one of the on screen keys. I can't remember which and my car is broken so I can't check right now Sad
