    Sim Card

I'm after advice on whats the best sim card for the car.

I currently have been using a Three (3) pay as you go sim only which is/was valid for 2 years but recently the connectively is crap to the point of not working, even though it still has plenty of data left on the card and is valid until August.

So I've been thinking maybe I need to get a better option.

What's everyone else using for connectively in the car?

    thanks

    3 - 24month/24gb via Amazon.

Bit annoying that I’d had lot of data left, but ran out of time recently, but just replaced it with same.

Just checked, Amazon is £31.39 for the 3 sim. It was £42.90 a month ago.

I had a 3 SIM until today. The coverage was poor compared to my previous EE SIM and my Vodafone phone. I changed it for a Vodafone SIM today even though it hadn't run out of data. If you want it you can have it. 😆

I don’t have a problem with 3 coverage, apart from the odd occasion when I am in the back of beyond tbh. I suppose I am a technophobe, so apart from the very, very occasional use of the satnav to estimate when I’ll be home, I don’t use any of the other features.

If a technophobe, not using features, how come the standard included SIM is insufficient?

    Genuine question.

I’m in CarPlay with my phone connected all the time and running everything on the 4G on that. Occasionally I get an email to say my included sim ran out of data, but it doesn’t seem to impact anything I do. Which means I haven’t yet got round to enabling the 24 month/24gb 3 SIM that I bought back in 2019 for my first D5.

Think my one just missed out on the standard sim freebie or I’d use it tbh.

Don’t the know the answer to the next question. I only very occasionally connect up my iPhone. I quite often forget to charge it or take it with me. I have an O2 PAYG, a tenner last me a year.

Ah, thanks Darras, I’d just assumed it had been free since they were introduced.

Think the free 250mb SIMs or whatever, came in quite late 2018 or 2019.

2017 definitely had no SIM in it at all, was much later they came with the freebee for I think it was a 3 year life. I only use the SIM for the Satellite maps and over the air updates, so my Three SIM has been perfectly adequate for that.
