    Engine oil everywhere

    2019 Discovery 5 SD4
    Engine Oil everywhere
I had a standard 24 month service on the 25 March 2021 at about 20,000 Km and have since done about 600 Km.
Today a friend told me there was oil on the ground where I was parked.
A quick inspection revealed a significant amount of oil on the underside of the engine. On lifting the bonnet, the dipstick was sitting up from its normal position and there was a lot of oil sprayed around that area.
The oil level is just touching the bottom of the dipstick, no engine warning lights were illuminated, and the car had behaved as normal when being driven.
The car will be trucked back to the dealer tomorrow.
    Any thoughts?
If the dipstick wasn’t correctly inserted would oil spray everywhere?
Could something else be wrong to pressure the sump and blow the dipstick.
I suspect the dipstick, but what else could it be?
    Any thoughts appreciated.

Ive heard of an incorrectly placed dip causing engine oil to be sprayed over the engine in other LRs. Wouldn’t worry tbh, just annoying more than anything else.

The dealer mechanic agrees it was just the dipstick not being correctly inserted and luckily no damage was done.
