    Drivetrain issue?

    I use the cruise control a lot, and I also let the car 'coast' approaching slower
    traffic on the fast-lane and near stoplights/crossings etc.

    What I noticed and worries me is :

    - after coasting, accelerate : no noises from drive train or shudders/vibrations;
    - contant speed, accelerate : clunking noise, shudder..

    It appears to me an issue in a bearing / coupling somewhere along the transmission,
    intermediate box (I have high/low gearing)...

    Anybody knows for sure what this is ? Car did 50.000 miles sofar.

    I've had a clunk sound from the rear diff, but this was only ever when driving away from standstill with a small amount of steering wheel input. The e-diff was replaced in December but the noise came back. Today it went back to the dealer for further investigation and they changed the oil in rear diff and transfer case, then re-calibrated both. Clunk gone. Fingers crossed for good!

    It sounds to me it comes from the gearbox area. The engine was changed with a previous owner. I assume the didn't align stuff properly..
