    Jacking up the D5

    I have had a play jacking the car up.

    There are 4 jacking points on the vehicle usual place behind the front wheels and in front of the rear.

    As expected the standard supplied jack aint the best,

    I would imagine that most people will be going for a bottle jack. The D4 owners whould get a jack (most use a Merc Sprinter jack) then get an adaptor made that fits on the end of the ram and a receiver that slots into a hole in the chassis.

    On the D5 there is no chassis or hole at the jacking point like the D3/4. The jacking points are 4 lugs with a slot that finish flush with the bottom of the vehicle. The end of the lugs are radiused.
    The receiver part of the jack is also radiused to match the lug.

    So if you prefer to use your own bottle jack and adaptor will have to be made to suit the D5.

    Interesting

    for at home do you think one of the jack pads with a slit in it would work on the trolley jack? I had to get a square one for BMWs equivalent of this but they do ones with just a slit in it;

    Bingo Thumbs Up

    This is just what the forum is about. Bow down Bow down

    The thing is with the D5 and the 'jack pad' you have shown it will have to fit/go into the square/rectangular hole in the sill where the jacking point is located, if its bigger than the hole it may damage the sill trim.

    Ill get some measurements of the aperture Thumbs Up

    heres the BMW one we have its rectangular, they are just heavy rubber so could be re sized easily and cost about a fiver. cheaper than getting the CNC'd ones made for the D4 if they work !

    The issue with most Land Rovers is the fact that a standard trolley jack doesn't have the lift or height to get a tyre off the ground. This is due to the long travel suspension. One ends up putting blocks of wood on the jack to gain the extra height and that's clearly not a safe practice. This is the reason why most go for a suitable bottle jack that can be stowed in the same place the Censored LR scissor jack is located.

    Can you point me to the supplier of the pads?

    The disco definitely needs a hi lift jack I have a high lift trolley jack that works for the d4 and then carry the sprinter bottle jack under the second row with a sill adapter.

    If you search jack pad on amazon loads come up. I think this is the one I have:

    Where's the best place to get the bottle jack, it's something I was looking at given the feedback on the scissor jack. I've seen some on ebay.
