Gear selector MY22
Is anyone else finding the gear selector really irritating?
To select between Drive and reverse, it is necessary to depress a button on the lever while moving the lever. Fail to press the button correctly (how is that even possible?), and the lever moves but the gear doesn't change. Since I normally do this by feel while looking where I am going and therefore don't check the gear indicator, I have many times found myself unexpectedly going in the wrong direction.
An accident waiting to happen!
Over many years in many automatics I've never before had a similar problem.
Is it just me? Do I have a defective gear selector?

After nearly 10 years fiddling with my knob, it took a few days to get used to the my new stumpy stick.
I still find Park being a button is a little strange.
You'll get used to it eventually.

I can't believe they dropped the rotary selector for that lever. If it works like one I had in a loaner Disco sport I thought it was horrible compared to the rotary selector in my 19 D5. Didn't feel intuitive although I suppose after a few days would get used to it.

Had a Disco Sport with it and felt it was absolute pants. It would be one of the biggest reasons not to buy a car with it. The rotary is just perfect tbh.
Strange how some of the luxury RRs still have the rotary knob that said or they did when I looked into the showroom about 6 months ago.

It’s bizarre that JLR led the market with the rotary selector and are now going back to sticks…..just as the rest of the market is finally moving on to dials, buttons etc.
