Help - car not started - for 3 months!!!
I am hoping that the excellent and knowledgeable members on this forum will be able to help - I am getting desperate.
I have a 2018 HSE Lux 2.0 Discovery 5 and prepared it for sale in late August. I sold it via Motorway for a price I was happy with. Tried to move it off my drive after the sale and it wouldn't start. It hasn't started since.
It has been at an LR specialist (independent) since 28th August and they have been unable find the problem.
The dashboard lights up when the ignition is switched on. Then when you put foot on the brake and try to start it, the car switches off and dashboard lights go off. Repeat and the same thing happens.
Below are the details of what they have done. Has anyone heard of this type of issue before and what the solution was?
I had to buy another vehicle and need to get rid of this one but have no idea of how to solve it.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
· Carried out vehicle diagnostic code read – no comms with telematics control module
· Checked all connections, power and earths
· Replaced and reprogrammed telematics control module
· Activated and registered new telematics module
· Checked communication with telematics control module
· Updated all vehicle software
· Performed infotainment master control module software update
· Replaced battery and re-set battery monitor system
· Carried out system immobiliser self-check
· Checked all connections, relays relating to vehicle start system
· Checked ignition and crank request signals
· Checked connection and loom to ECU
· Checked system fault codes

Think you meant put your foot on the brake rather than clutch otherwise you’ve a bigger problem!
If your specialist can’t find the problem, I’d be tempted to take it to a LR dealership, but then the bills Mount up, but gotta be cheaper than flogging it as non working.

Thanks Darras, brain was fuddled, corrected the original post now. I have tried to avoid sending it to a dealer due to the eye watering costs, but see that this may be the only option soon.

That is the same problem and symptoms as when D4s wouldnt start . I know they have checked earth but just try putting a jump lead between the negative battery terminal and something metalic on the engine and see if it will then start .
