Recently purchased a ex demo 9-10 wks ago, done about 2000miles. Noticed the rear discs are slightly pitted & donโt really clean up after journeys. Presumed they would so never said anything at the time.
Is it worth complaining that these should had been changed prior to sale or just tuff luck now?
โI have checked with service and surface corrosion and pitted brakes are fairly normal. I have checked the Approved pre delivery check and they more than met the approved used standard.โ
Some people pay extra for pitted rotors. I put slotted and drilled rotors on mine for heavy duty mountain driving....
Demo vehicles get pretty light use. If you haven't yet, get them good and warm, find a nice quiet side road or empty parking lot, and do 4-5 hard stops from ~50mph. Won't get rid of the pits, but will give you an idea of confidence in panic stop situations and maybe give some peace of mind.

I would view the sellers response with scepticism, their statement 'they more than met the approved used standard' suggests there are varying degrees of standard, I always understood it was either pass or fail. Even so after 2000 miles I doubt you would get any satisfaction from them.
Like Deisel Ranger, i too put vented drilled and grooved discs all round, Brakes are superb.
