thinking to buy D5 3.0
Hello all from D4 site
I am thinking of going for younger vehicle like D5. What are the most common issues with it noticed by present users and things to look out for?
Rgds

I am sure the list will get longer as aggrieved owners contribute.
For my part, I would suggest leaking windscreens, diesel model crankshaft failure and spurious electronics gremlins seem to come up regularly, as does atrocious dealer service.
Perhaps a tour down the faults and fixes section would help while waiting for more contributions

Mostly the same problems as with a D4.
Leaky windscreen is the most “specific” to D5
TERRIBLE dealer service is probably the most important one of the list though!!
My D5 has been great… I will certainly NOT be replacing it in the near future!! It does EVERYTHING I ask of it, and with ease. Tow the horses… no problem. In and out of muddy field … no problem. Long trips… no problem.
MY biggest complaint is the motorized rear door. It seems to be very sensitive to misalignment!!

Probably every answer is going to be unique to whichever problem the poster is most annoyed about.
In my case, bought at main dealer at one year old, three years ago. No significant problems since, and very happy with the car and the dealer then and since.
Which probably tells you nothing except that for every unhappy customer, there are an unknown number of very satisfied ones!

The telematics on the '17 no longer work as they ran on 3G; otherwise, I like my D5.

The ‘17 telematics module still works, just will fall back to 2G/Edge

My trouble seems to be that there are no carriers left in the states that support 2G or 3G.
I wonder if the telematics unit could be changed out to a newer unit that runs on 4 or 5G.

Everything that I have seen/read/been told says they are not interchangeable.
