    Tread plate removal

    Hello,

    First post here.

Can anyone please advise how to remove the 4, front and rear, original Discovery 5 tread plates, ie how to get the plastic surround trim off and then remove the actual plates?

    Thanks

Not of a D5, but from a couple of Disco Sports SWMBO had with illuminated tread plates, it’s just a matter of starting up near the accelerator pedal end and giving the trim a hard, sharp tug and working towards the bottom end.

You’ll think you’re breaking it, but trust me, you’re not.

Aldo Is that for new plastic (£54) ones or have you found some illuminated ones?

No just standard plastic ones. Illuminated one’s sound nice!

They don’t do illuminated ones for the Disco 5, only the Disco Sport.

Don’t want to put you off, but tread plates are fine, but they easily get scuffed. SWMBO loved the bling on her DS, but I could think of better things to chuck £350 at.

Surely the shiny tread plates I’ve pictured are metal, not plastic?
